ELD Family Resource Night

The Quakertown Community School District (QCSD) recently held an English Language Development (ELD) Family Resource Night, an event designed to support the districtā€™s multilingual families. This event, organized by QCSDā€™s dedicated ELD teachers, was a tremendous success, bringing together a variety of community organizations and resources to provide essential support for families whose first language is not English.

The ELD Family Resource Night served as a valuable opportunity for families to connect with local resources, ask questions, and learn about the services available to help their children thrive both academically and socially. Key community organizations partnered with the school district to make the night as impactful as possible. These included the Quakertown Borough Police, two local food pantries, the Quakertown Library, a family service organization, and district personnel, all of whom were present to offer information and assistance to attending families.

The inclusion of these community partners highlighted QCSDā€™s commitment to ensuring that all families feel supported and welcomed within the district. The collaboration with organizations such as the police and food pantries provided families with access to important safety information, food resources, and other critical services. Meanwhile, the library and family service organizations offered support related to literacy, family well-being, and access to educational materials, further promoting the growth and development of QCSDā€™s multilingual students.

The ELD Family Resource Night also gave parents the chance to interact with district personnel, gaining valuable insight into how they can better support their childrenā€™s learning experience within the school system. This open communication between families and educators is essential in building strong partnerships that enhance the educational journey of each student.

ELD teachers at QCSD played a pivotal role in organizing the event, ensuring that it catered to the unique needs of multilingual families in the district. Through their efforts, the evening fostered a sense of community and provided much-needed support for families navigating the educational system in a new language.

The event marks another step forward in QCSDā€™s commitment to promoting equity, access, and success for all students, no matter their background or language.
